Joel Smith Digital started from a simple belief: digital should feel human.

It should tell stories, spark emotion, and create real connection - not just fill feeds or tick boxes.

That belief started back when I was working as a journalist, chasing stories, asking questions, and learning how to communicate with impact. Over time, that passion evolved into something broader: digital marketing, social media strategy, content creation, and campaign performance - delivered with personality and purpose.

I’ve spent more than a decade helping brands (especially in sport and events) cut through the noise and build genuine relationships with their audience. I’ve run content teams at global events like the Olympics Games on behalf of the national broadcaster and the Australian Open. I’ve driven digital campaigns and strategies for Grill’d, LIV Golf, Softball Australia and Tennis Victoria. And I’ve stepped into businesses mid-sprint to make sure things don’t just keep going but improve. Whether I’m on-site at a stadium or behind the scenes collaborating with internal teams, I work fast, think practically, and bring fresh perspective to whatever’s in front of me.

Clients come to me when they’re short on time or resource, mid-project, or in need of someone who can just roll up their sleeves and get it done. One recent project sums this up perfectly. When Grill’d was searching for a new Paid Media Manager, they brought me in to bridge the gap. Over ten weeks, I kept more than 30 campaigns running smoothly across platforms, lifted CTR by 44% during a key sales window, and handed over the reins with confidence once the full-time hire was made.
